Recovery Source: This material was recovered from one of the most polluted places on Earth, the impoverished town of Cité Soleil, Haiti. With the help of locals and our recovery partner, Nate, we organized a cleanup effort which provided us with 4,200 pounds of usable plastic. Using local machinery, we sorted the plastic, hot-washed it extensively, and shredded it into 5-10 mm pieces. Once it was shipped to our facility in Virginia, we cleaned it again and pelletized the material into the form you see above.
